CECELIA PHILLIPS – voice, piano: Cecelia Phillips graduated from the University of Cape Town in South Africa where she studied voice and piano.
She then sang professionally with CAPAB (Cape Performing Arts Board) for four years performing such roles as Suzuki (Madam Butterfly) and Sorceress (Dido and Aeneas).
She received a scholarship to further her studies in London (UK) where she lived for eighteen years studying with world renowned teachers such as Paul Hamburger, Harvey Allen and Jeff Talbot.
In London she had a large teaching practice and performed many leading roles such as:
Dido (Dido and Aeneas) Carmen (Carmen) Dorabella (Cosi Fan Tutte) Cherubino (Marriage of Figaro) Second Lady (Magic Flute) Secretary (Consul) Mother (Amahl and the Night Visitors) Musette (Massenet's Boheme) Prince (Massenet's Cinderella) Nancy (Annie)
She has also sung in many oratorios and given lieder recitals.
Cecelia recently moved from Monroe, Orange County, where two of her singing students received scholarships to further their singing studies, at universities.
She now lives in Pleasantville, New York with her husband and three children.
