JOHN A. CARLSON – trumpet, trombone: Soloist, composer and clinician, John received his Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from Lawrence University, Wisconsin and has achieved national recognition through tours and recordings with the Either/Orchestra, and the Ken Shophorst Ensemble, and continues to play with the Charlie Kohlhase Quintet, the Machito Orchestra, the Dave Berkman Quartet, and Rob Reddy’s Sleeping Dogs.

 

John has been on over ten national tours as well as in Canada (including the Western, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto Jazz Festivals); Europe (including the North Sea Jazz Festival, Portugal and Pori Jazz Festival); and Japan in the Kyoto Jazz Festival.

 

He has been a featured soloist on over thirty albums and CD’s. He has performed and/or recorded with Tito Puente, Chocolate Armeteros, Cab Calloway, Joanne Brackeen, Roswell Rudd, to name a few.
