RYAN BERG - bass violin & electric bass: Born and raised near Minneapolis, MN, Ryan has been playing music since the age of 5 years old. During high school, he studied with jazz great, Anthony Cox, and with James Clute, the former principle bassist of the Minnesota Orchestra.

He moved to New York in 1999 to attend Purchase College. He studied with Todd Coolman, Pete Malinverni, John Faddis and Hal Galper. He graduated from Purchase in 2002 winning the prestigious Anthony Newman award.

He performs throughout the Northeast with musicians such as Ralph Lalama, Andrew Beals, Tony Jefferson, John Riley, James Weidman, Hiroshi Yamazaki, Vijay Ier, Jon Faddis, Jon Maione, Matt Shulman, Glenda Davenport, Jason Wildman, Peter Malinverni, Joe Lovano, Slide Hampton, John Scofield, David Berkman, and as a leader with many of his own groups.

He has worked as a jazz counselor at the Purchase Summer Jazz Workshop and has taught lessons, classes, and ensembles for the Day Jams music camp.
